The story follows someone who has just been delivered a fresh sentence of community service, looking for an opportunity to get this work over and done with as soon as possible, somebody approaches our protagonist with a golden opportunity. A tightly-wound friend of the protagonist bestows upon her the job of leading a troop of girl scouts to victory in achieving the notorious Golden Cookie Badge. Our protagonist sees this as an opportunity to teach the troop some hard truths and skills needed to take on the real world once the time of selling cookies is over. Obstacles present themselves in the form of a rival troop leader and the family of the troop members.
