Jessica Knappett’s new series to be made with BBC Comedy – Push

BBC Comedy have ordered a sitcom from comedian Jessica Knappett, here’s what we know so far about Push.

Comedian Jessica Knappett (Drifters) is behind the new series ordered by BBC Comedy, here’s what we know about the sitcom based on the NHS.

What’s it about?

Set in a rural NHS maternity unit, Push follows a band of grafters and oddballs as they try and balance work and life whilst bringing new life into the world. Push  has been described as a celebration of the gossip, energy and emotion that buzzes around the halls of our public health services.

Push was the result of the BBC Sitcom Project, being its first-ever commission. Multiple writers’ rooms were funded by the initiative, including one helmed by Jessica Knappett as the original showrunner for Push. She went on to lead a writers room which combined established and new talent, so expect to see some fresh faces in the credits!

The official cast is yet to be announced.

Who’s behind it?

Jessica Knappett is the show’s creator and writer, with Helen Williams (Lazy Susan) producing. Jack Bayles (Such Brave Girls) will exectuive produce the series alongside Phil Clarke (I May Destroy You) and Jessica Knappett.

When’s it out?

With the show still being in the early stages of production, the release date is yet to be announced.
