Jodie Turner Smith is to star as Éile in spin-off show The Witcher: Blood Origin according to report from Deadline

From the Deadline report (here), retweeted from the official The Witcher Twitter account (@witchernetflix), it seems Jodie Turner Smith has a major role in upcoming Witcher spin-off and prequel The Witcher: Blood Origin. She will play Éile, an elite warrior blessed with the voice of a goddess, who has left her clan and position as Queen’s guardian to follow her heart as a nomadic musician. A grand reckoning on the continent forces her to return to the way of the blade in her quest for vengeance and redemption.

The series is set some 1,200 years before the world of The Witcher, and will tell the story of the creation of the first prototype Witcher, and the events that lead to the pivotal “conjunction of the spheres,” when the worlds of monsters, men, and elves merged to become one. Clearly a must watch for fans of The Witcher.

Turner-Smith earned recognition for  role opposite Daniel Kaluuya in Queen & Slim and is due to appear in two films in 2021 as well as taking the role of Anne Boleyn in a series for Channel 5, currently in production. While we wait for news of when The Witcher season 2 might finish filming, there’s another spin-off to look forward to — The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, an animated origin story for Geralt’s mentor and fellow Witcher Vesemir.

While we wait for more news, The Witcher is available to (re-)watch now on Netflix.
