Jupiter’s Legacy cancelled after just one season — other projects being developed

Deadline reported Jupiter’s Legacy cancelled and given lots more information about a new live action Supercrooks to be developed alongside a forthcoming animated version.

From where we sit, Netflix has invested heavily in Millarworld and Jupiter’s Legacy was a flagship for a ship that barely left the harbour. In our review, we rated it at (just) three stars out of five, describing it as ponderous pageant fails to please. While we may have seemed harsh, the economics of TV as well as Mark Millar’s efforts being focused in many areas. He is quoted as saying:

I’ve always loved crime stories, from Scorsese to Tarantino, and supervillains are always the most fun part of any superhero story. To do something exclusively focused on the villains they fight just feels incredibly fresh as we explore what it’s like to be a bad guy in a world crawling with good guys who want to put you in jail.

At the moment there’s rather a glut of superhero and fantasy shows on our screens, and we have to say the competition is strong, including The Boys, Invincible and of course the marvel MCU. We wish Mark Millar’s team better success going forward.
