Leverage: Redemption scores a second series

The heist drama show will return for a further run on IMDb TV.

Having successfully regenerated Leverage, the Hustle-like show about a group of criminals who use their skills for good against the rich and powerful, Amazon Studios have announced the revived show is getting a second outing.

The original Leverage ran from 2008 – 2012 and starred Timothy Hutton, Gina Bellman (Coupling), Beth Reisgraf, Christian Kane and Alec Hardison; they formed a five part team as the mastermind, grifter, thief, hitter and hacker respectively, performing complex cons to right wrongs (like The A Team, but much classier.)

Last year, Bellman (Sophie Devereaux), Resigraf (Parker) and Kane (Eliot Spencer) reprised their roles for the 16-episode Leverage: Redemption, commissioned by Amazon’s free ad-supported streamer IMDb TV. Hutton’s Nate Ford however, has been written out due to serious allegations made against the actor.

With Aldis Hodge guesting as Alec Hardison in a few episodes, the team was augmented by new faces; Noah Wyle (ER, The Librarians) joined as corporate lawyer Harry Wilson, while Aleyse Shannon plays Breanna Casey, Hardison’s foster sister who has a knack for computers, robotics, and getting into trouble.

Buffy and Torchwood favourite James Marsters appeared in a guest spot too, as did ST:TNG’s Levar Burton.

On the show’s recommission, Electric Entertainment’s Dean Devlin, the show’s co-showrunner and executive producer said:

“Bringing back these characters has been a dream come true, and working with such incredible people as the team at IMDb TV has been an absolute pleasure. So excited we get to do it all over again,”

While we wait for Series 2 to land, the first run is available to stream on IMDb TV. Plus, if you’re so inclined, there’s all five series of the original show too.

You can find IMDb TV within the Prime Video app, as well as on most smart devices.
