An unexpected take on an IP has surfaced and it has plenty of well known faces attached, here’s the latest we have on Matchbox:

Mattel has put itself into the world of cinema once again with this brand new production for Apple Original Films, there’s a lot to follow thanks to the smash-hit that was Barbie. Although it’s tough to live up to the massive legacy of the company’s biggest property, the latest release about this upcoming film has delivered details about who and what we can expect to see.

What’s Matchbox about?

Inspired by the die-cast toy vehicle line, the story of the feature will follow a band of close knit friends who unexpectedly find themselves of the biggest conflict imaginable. They become entangled in an adventure which ends up making them work together in order to prevent an incoming global disaster, testing their bond and putting something much bigger than themselves at stake.

Who’s in it?

The cast currently announced for the film includes John Cena (Ricky Stanicky), Jessica Biel (The Better Sister), Sam Richardson (Ted Lasso), Teyonah Parris (They Cloned Tyrone) and Randeep Hooda (Jaat).

When’s it out?

The action-packed take on the toy’s IP will be out on Apple TV on October 9th. Watch the trailer here.
