The pair will appear together in a new Netflix “limited series.”
Netflix have confirmed that Matthew Rhys has joined its upcoming series The Beast in Me, starring Claire Danes.
The series, from creator Gabe Rotter, is about an author who discovers that a suspected killer is her new neighbour.
Welsh actor Matthew Rhys is best known for his seven-season run in The Americans, which finished in 2018. Since then, he’s led two seasons of Perry Mason. Danes, meanwhile, put in an eight season shift as the troubled CIA operative Carrie Mathison on Homeland. Since then, she’s starred in The Essex Serpent and Fleishman Is in Trouble.
Here’s the setup for The Beast in Me:
In The Beast in Me, acclaimed author Aggie Wiggs (Danes) has receded from public life since the tragic death of her young son, unable to write, a ghost of her former self. But she finds an unlikely subject for a new book when the house next door is bought by Nile Jarvis (Rhys), a famed and formidable real estate mogul who was once the prime suspect in his wife’s disappearance. At once horrified and fascinated by this man, Aggie finds herself compulsively hunting for the truth — chasing his demons while fleeing her own — in a game of cat and mouse that might turn deadly.
The series comes from showrunner and executive producer Howard Gordon (Homeland, 24), with Antonio Campos (The Staircase) directing. We’ll keep you posted.
