What we know about the promise of more murder and mystery

We’ve been tracking the upcoming return of Ludwig for some time, and already reported on the early renewal for series 3. With the show (finally!) airing next week, we now have a whole set of interviews with the key cast, including David Mitchell, Anna Maxwell Martin, Mark Bonnar and Sian Clifford. Let’s remind you of the show with the BBC’s own summary:

Missing detectives, multiple murders and high-ranking cover-ups. It can mean only one thing… Ludwig is back!

Master puzzle-setter John ‘Ludwig’ Taylor (David Mitchell) is now a crime scene consultant, working alongside DCI Russell Carter (Dipo Ola) on ‘impossible’ crimes for the Cambridge Police Authority. But with his identical twin brother still missing, John and his sister-in-law Lucy (Anna Maxwell Martin) won’t stop – there’s a puzzle to solve and a husband and father to bring home. One masquerade may have ended, but a new one has just begun.

We found all the interviews interesting, but thought we’d grab the part where Mark Bonnar explains his character Gareth:

He doesn’t enjoy people. He’s been on his own for a long time in this office. He’s curmudgeonly. He eats a lot of rubbish. He’s his own boss, and that’s the way he likes it.

Gareth’s role is to provide an alternative police station where they can carry on the investigation without any prying eyes. But it turns out, because he loves Ludwig and he’s a lifelong puzzle fan, he’s also quite good at solving stuff. Gareth’s relationship with Lucy is abrasive but he is also intrigued by her. She comes into the office like a whirlwind and he never knows how she gets in. She just appears.
