Netflix has had an absolute gem of a property under its wing for a while now, here’s all we know about the latest updates on this project:

Brand-new updates have been released about the latest addition to the much-loved Narnia franchise, including further cast and story details as well as a long-awaited release date. With very popular director Greta Gerwig (Barbie) at the helm, there’s a lot of faith that she’ll work the property-revival magic people have come to expect of her. Fans are curious to see what will come from this rejuvenation of the property, with some questions being answered with the newest release of information.

What’s it about?

Having recently celebrated its 71st birthday, the source material for this project is the penultimate novel in C.S Lewis’ The Chronicles of Narnia. Canonically taking place as a prelude to the well-known group of siblings and their adventures through the magical wardrobe, this story follows a pair of children uncovering a secret magical realm thanks to rings made by one of the protagonists’ uncles. Upon discovering the Wood between the Worlds, the pair accidentally awaken the future White Queen in the barren landscape of Charn. They eventually get involved with Aslan, and watch him create Narnia through song.

It’s not known how much of this is going to be put into the film, but it’s been known that the project will likely have a musical tilt, hinting strongly that Aslan may still be utilising his song to create Narnia.

When’s it out?

For fans of seeing films in theatre, the release for IMAX and theatres will be 12th February 2027, with a Netflix release date of April 2nd, 2027.
