The Big Bang Theory’s Johnny Galecki is producing the new show…

A new series will reboot the National Lampoon’s Vacation films for the HBO Max streaming service.

Variety reports that the developing show will be called The Griswolds, and will follow the Griswold family between holidays, exploring “their daily lives in the suburbs of modern-day Chicago.”

Tim Hobert (Scrubs, The Middle) is creating the half-hour comedy series, and Johnny Galecki (The Big Bang Theory) is one of the executive producers, alongside Holly Brown and Cory Wood. Galecki originally appeared as a member of the Griswold family in National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. It’s not clear at this time if he plans to star in the new series, or whether any of the other former members of the franchise’s cast will return.

There have been five movies in the National Lampoon’s Vacation series, including a reboot-flavoured entry in 2015 that starred Ed Helms and Chris Hemsworth.

More soon.
