Netflix hikes prices in the US — UK to follow?

As Netflix hikes its subscription price in the US, we look at implications for the UK

The Hollywood Reporter tells us subscriptions to Netflix in the US will soon cost more. Prices rise by $1 – $2.

What might happen in the UK as Netflix hikes its US price

It needs little crystal ball gazing to suppose the UK will follow suit. When Netflix raised prices in 2025, the UK quickly followed with subscriptions going up by £1 – £2. If we look at the specifics of this latest US price rise, we have:

The ad-supported tier will rise by $1 per month to $8.99, with the standard plan rising by $2 per month to $19.99 and the premium plan also rising by $2 per month to $26.99 per month. The company also raised the cost of its “extra member” fee by $1, to $6.99 for ad-supported plans and $9.99 for ad-free plans.

We might assume increases in the UK of amounts similar to last year, with top UK subscriptions rising by £2 per month. With Netflix being the industry benchmark, we can expect the other major players to set their sights on similar charges. This looks like a likely target for any future UK  Paramount+ / HBO offering available later this year or early next.

We also anticipate UK price rises perhaps as early as next month.
