News has been circulating for a while that the writer of BBCs’ The Night Manager was looking to turn the movie Hanna, which he co-wrote the script for, into a TV series.
Directed Joe Wright (Atonement, Pride & Predjudice), Hanna tracked the travels of Saoirse Ronan’s eponymous lead character. Raised to be an assassin by father, the plot sees her elude a CIA agent (played by Cate Blanchett) who is trying to kill her and her dad. If you haven’t seen it, it’s a cracking action movie with great performances from all the lead actors – along with great cameos from Jason Flemyng and Olivia Williams. It certainly doesn’t take much imagination to see how attractive Hanna would be to makers of a TV series, either. A blend of Alias and Nikita for millennials, anyone?
For Farr, the Hanna TV series is another project to add to what must be a pretty full workload right now. His episode, ‘The Impossible Planet’, will be kicking off the high-profile Channel 4/Amazon Philip K. Dick anthology series Electric Dreams, and he also has another series, McMafia, on his slate for 2018 – and before that, an episode of Troy: Fall of a City.
