The Pixar film was released on Disney+ in the US back in April…
Many months after premiering on the Disney+ streaming service stateside, it’s been announced that the Pixar movie Onward will come to the UK version of Disney+ on Friday October 2nd.
Starring Tom Holland, Chris Pratt, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Octavia Spencer, Onward tells the story of teenage elf brothers Ian and Barley, who embark on a magical quest to spend one more day with their late father. Like any good adventure, their journey is filled with cryptic maps, impossible obstacles and unimaginable discoveries. But when their mother finds out her sons are missing, she teams up with a legendary manticore to bring her beloved boys back home.
A trailer lies below…
Onward was one of the first big movies to lose out on a big chunk of its March box office thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown, and it soon started targeting a home release across a few different platforms as a result.
“While we’re looking forward to audiences enjoying our films on the big screen again soon, given the current circumstances, we are pleased to release this fun, adventurous film to digital platforms early for audiences to enjoy from the comfort of their homes,” said director Dan Scanlon and producer Kori Rae in a joint statement at the time.
