Paramount Pictures’ creature feature horror thriller Primate comes to the streamer next week

Directed by Johannes Roberts (47 Meters Down) and starring Johnny Sequoyah (Dexter: New Blood) the film arrives Wednesday, March 25, 2026. The press release tells us:

A hit with critics, the film should be on the short list for movie fans who love horror, creature features, survival thrillers – and losing a good night’s sleep because they’re too scared to close their eyes.

What is Primate about

Johnny Sequoyah stars as Lucy Pinborough, a college student visiting her home in Hawaii after several years away. When her family’s super-intelligent chimpanzee Ben goes feral, her homecoming turns into a nightmare. With her widowed father, Adam (Troy Kotsur), away and no help in sight, paradise becomes a living hell as Lucy and her friends fight to survive a deadly predator they once trusted.

Reportedly a hit with critics in theatrical release Jan 9 this year, the current Rotten Tomatoes scores suggest Paramount’s exuberance isn’t misplaced. The film gets a 78% critics score from over 195 reviews. With over 1,000 audience responses, it also gets a 71% score.
