First Look at James Nesbitt and Richard E. Grant’s new Channel 4 thriller

The channel has released a first image from their upcoming crime drama.

Back in September, we brought you the first details of this series, which is still going by the rather generic title of Suspect. It’s an adaptation of the original Danish series Forhøret by Christoffer Boe and Miso Film. Now, the image from the show reveals a bloodied James Nesbitt and a brooding Richard E. Grant to whet the appetite.

Made by Eagle Eye Drama, the production company who make the UK version of Professor T and Before we Die, Suspect shares plenty of DNA with both. It’s another series written by Matt Baker and has Professor T‘s director Dries Vos too.

Here’s the synopsis:

When veteran detective, Danny Frater (James Nesbitt), turns up at a hospital mortuary for what he thinks is a routine ID check on a young woman’s body, he gets a devastating shock; the corpse turns out to be his estranged daughter, Christina (Imogen King). He sets out on a mission for the truth, retracing her last days and hours, in an agonising crusade to discover what really happened to his only child.

In addition to Nesbitt and Grant, the impressive cast also boasts Joely Richardson, Anne-Marie Duff, Antonia Thomas, Niamh Algar, Sacha Dhawan, Sam Heughan and Ben Miller.

We imagine Suspect will appear sometime in 2022, with a more distinctive name to set it apart from itv’s The Suspect, which is also in production. Naturally, we’ll keep you posted.
