The full line-up and award nominees for Raindance Film Festival 2018 have been announced, with films from more than 118 countries.
Working in partnership with Lumix, the festival will feature more than 80 feature-length films, 99 short films, 22 music videos and 33 VR exhibits. Chilean film Princesita, directed by Marialy’s Rivas, will be the Opening Night screening.
Elliot Grove, Raindance founder, said: “Independent film matters more than ever. Our varied programme of the very best of independent, uncensored cinema has the power to transport from our place of overwhelm – breaking down barriers and allowing us to understand how people with very different circumstances from all over the globe live, work and play.
“We are proud to give a voice to the outsiders, the rebels, the dreamers and the poets and to celebrate films of dissent, which challenge society.”
Grove and Judi Shekoni, actress and jury member, revealed the competition films in London this morning, with categories including Best International and Best UK Film.
Works nominated for Best UK Film include documentaries George Michael: Freedom – Director’s Cut, Team Khan and Kaiser! The Greatest Footballer Never to Play Football, and contemporary thrillers We the Kings and Nightshooters.
The festival runs between Wednesday 26th September and Sunday 7th October. Find out more here.
