The BBC has announced cast details for new comedy series Rambling

Starring Mark Bonnar (Line of Duty, Catastrophe, Ludwig) and Ashley Jensen (Shetland, After Life, Catastrophe), the series is set against the breathtaking and occasionally sodden landscape of rural Scotland.  It centres on mismatched pair Gerry and Cat.

From the press release, we have:

You’d never put Gerry and Cat together. He’s order, she’s chaos. Gerry plans every step. Cat gets lost on the way to the car park. Gerry’s on a mission to fulfil a promise to his recently deceased brother. Cat’s flying solo having been thrown out a walking group that was supposed to be a fresh start for her. The more they walk and talk, they discover they’re travelling on common ground. Rambling is a feel-good Scottish sitcom all about putting your best foot forward.

The show is written by Iain Connell (Burnistoun, The Scotts) and Sharon Young (The Scotts). The press release identifies it as 1×30 minutes and a one-off special. We suspect this may end up just being a pilot. In years gone by the BBC used to run short series of one-off comedies with the most popular being commissioned. We wonder if this is a nod to the same idea. We’ll let you know if so.
