The airplane-based thriller will be back for second series – but without Richard Armitage?
ITV have announced that their thriller series Red Eye will be back for second run.
The first series of the nail-biting show predominantly played out during an international flight, with Richard Armitage’s Dr Matthew Nolan being returned to China after apparently running from a car accident in which a woman had been killed. He was escorted on the flight by British police officer DC Hana Li (Jing Lusi) as an international conspiracy unfolded both in the air and on the ground.
Now, it’s confirmed that Jing Lusi will return as DS Hana Li with a new conspiracy to solve. She’s joined by Lesley Sharp and Jemma Moore, reprising their roles as Head of MI5 Madeline Delaney and Hana’s journalist sister Jess Li, respectively. However, there’s no mention of Richard Armitage, so it appears his story is concluded.
Further casting will be announced in due course.
Red Eye is written and created by Peter A Dowling (Flightplan) and produced by Bad Wolf (Doctor Who).
In the UK, you can find Red Eye Series 1 on ITVX.
