Ryan Coogler’s The X-Files project will be coming to Hulu as an original series

Unlike the Buffy reboot, Hulu has greenlit another classic series revival.

What do we know about the new version of The X-Files

The Disney+ UK press release is enthusiastic, if a little light on details. We do know the series will star Danielle Deadwyler and Himesh Patel. The outline is:

A reimagining of the classic, the series follows two highly decorated but vastly different FBI agents who form an unlikely bond when they are assigned to a long-shuttered division devoted to cases involving unexplained phenomena.

Talking about the pilot (series production has yet to begin as far as we can tell), Coogler has this to say:

“What Chris Carter created is special, and we wanted to honor everything that made the original series connect with so many people while also finding our own way into that world. Danielle and Himesh, along with the rest of our cast, have brought such original perspectives and performances to these characters, and watching that come together has been one of the most rewarding parts of the experience.”

We’re expecting production next year and hopefully the show itself later on. We’ll keep you posted.
