Bayside is back, with most of its familiar faces along for the ride…
We’re going back to Bayside High! Streaming service Peacock has rebooted the popular teen series Saved by the Bell, which originally ran from 1989 to 1993, and brought back some of the original cast to keep older fans interested in the next generation.
The rather more grown up Elizabeth Berkley Lauren, Mario Lopez and Mark-Paul Gosselaar are key to the revival, and the show now also stars Josie Totah, Dexter Darden, Haskiri Velazquez, Mitchell Hoog, Alycia Pascual-Peña and Belmont Cameli as the younger Bayside High schoolkids.
Here’s an official synopsis for the reboot:
“When California governor Zack Morris gets into hot water for closing too many low-income high schools, he proposes they send the affected students to the highest performing schools in the state – including Bayside High. The influx of new students gives the over privileged Bayside kids a much needed and hilarious dose of reality in this comedy inspired by the classic late ’80s/early ’90s sitcom of the same name.”
