The lead role and production date have been confirmed for Amazon MGM’s Tomb Raider.
Things have been a little quiet since the last updates on Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s (Fleabag) take on Tomb Raider in 2024. Now, the lead role and production date have been confirmed by Amazon MGM.
Who will play Lara Croft?
Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones) has been announced as the lead, taking on the role of the video game’s thrill-seeking protagonist. This is the second time Turner has recently been cast in an Amazon series as she’ll also be starring in Steal, a heist thriller where she stars opposite Archie Madekwe (Saltburn) and Jacob Fortune-Lloyd (Bodies).
The role of Croft has previously been portrayed by Angelina Jolie, Alicia Vikander and Hayley Atwell.
Who else is on the team?
Johnathan Van Tulleken (Shogun) has been confirmed as director and executive producer and Chad Hodge (Single All the Way) has been announced as co-showrunner and executive producer. The series will be produced with Story Kitchen (Sonic The Hedgehog), a company that’s already working with Amazon MGM studios on an adaptation of the Life Is Strange video game.
When will production start?
The production date has been confirmed to be January 19th, 2026.
