It’s being touted as “a tale for our time”…
A new limited series is in the works at Netflix that will adapt Spotify Untold, a book by Sven Carlsson and Jonas Leijonhufvud which charts the creation and rise of the popular music streaming service.
Netflix has greenlit the new show from producer Berna Levin (Young Wallander) and director Per-Olav Sorensen (Quicksand) for an as-yet-unrevealed release window. Spotify Untold was published earlier this year, and tells the story of the company’s founders, Daniel Ek and Martin Lorentzon, who launched the service back in 2006.
“It’s the story of how a small band of Swedish tech industry insiders transformed music — how we listen to it and how it’s made — it is truly a tale for our time,” said Levin. “Not only is this a story about the way all our lives have changed in the last decade, it’s about the battle for cultural and financial influence in a globalised, digitised world.”
