BBC One confirms start date for final season of ‘Wallander’

The fourth season of crime drama Wallander will begin on BBC One later this month.

Sir Kenneth Branagh is back as Swedish detective inspector Kurt Wallander for a final three episodes.

The first episode, ‘The White Lioness’ – written by James Former (Spooks) and adapted from Swedish author Henning Mankell’s third original novel – will air at 9pm on Sunday 22 May on BBC One.

Returning cast members include Jeany Spark as Linda Wallander, Richard McCabe as Nyberg, Barnaby Kay as Lennart Mattson, and Ingeborga Dapkunaite as Baiba Liepa.

Kenneth Branagh commented in 2014 when filming began: “…this last series of films contain some of the greatest challenges the character has ever faced. It’s a privilege to try to meet them, and I look forward to a great Swedish Autumn working on Henning Mankell’s masterly creation.”

Season 4 was filmed on location in Skane, Sweden, Copenhagen, Denmark and Cape Town, South Africa.
