ITV has officially announced the launch date for the final season of Downton Abbey.
The period drama is back for eight new episodes, followed by the show’s last ever episode on Christmas Day.
Season 6 begins at 9pm on Sunday 20 September on ITV.

Creator Julian Fellowes recently hinted at how the show will end: “I think you always leave slightly open ended stories because life is a slightly open ended story until you die and you can’t kill the entire cast!”
