From the makers of Gomorrah, new Italian drama 1992 will begin in the UK on Sky Arts next month.
The ten-part series received its world premiere at the Berlin Film Festival last week and the story follows six ordinary people whose lives are intertwined with the political and societal earthquake that swept away Italy’s post-war political establishment.
1992 will launch simultaneously on 24 March on Sky Arts, Sky Italia, Sky Ireland, Sky Deutschland and Sky Austria.
Gary Davey, Managing Director, Content at Sky commented: “1992 offers a thrilling story set in the Italian politics of the early Nineties and is a fine example of outstanding story-telling. Hot on the heels of our Fortitude simulcast, this is another breakthrough series from the ‘old world’ from the new European Sky family.”
1992 is based on an idea of the Italian actor Stefano Accorsi (The Last Kiss), who also stars along with Guido Caprino, Domenico Diele, Miriam Leone, Tea Falco and Alessandro Roja (Romanzo Criminale).
