AMC has cancelled Talamasca: The Secret Order after just one season — what next for the franchise
Variety broke the news of the cancellation, and it’s a sad turn of events for the show intended to bridge the tent poles of the Anne Rice Immortal Universe The Mayfair Witches and Interview with the Vampire (aka The Vampire Lestat).
What was Talamasca: The Secret Order
Described as a horror thriller, it dropped on Netflix in December 2025. The show followed Guy Anatole (Nicholas Denton), who:
‘…on the cusp of graduating law school, is approached by a representative of the Talamasca, a secretive agency that monitors and protects us from the supernatural world. When Guy learns that the Talamasca has been tracking him since his childhood, he falls headlong into a world of secret agents and immortal beings who, up to now, have maintained a fragile balance with the mortal world.’
With substantial elements set in London, it was of interest to UK audiences and mixed dark deeds with mystery and while we found it a little unfocused, did believe there was plenty of possibility.
Nicholas Denton led the cast, which also included Elizabeth McGovern, William Fichtner, Maisie Richardson-Sellers and Celine Buckens. Jason Schwartzman guest starred, with both Eric Bogosian and Justin Kirk reprising their roles from Interview with the Vampire in guest star roles.
Is that it for the show
Despite cancellation, there is a crumb of comfort for fans in this quote from an AMC spokesperson:
‘The Talamasca has a storied place within the Anne Rice Immortal Universe, and we expect to see at least some of these characters, and the organisation itself, in future expressions of the franchise.’
