The critically acclaimed Chicago restaurant dramedy will return…
Like many viewers, we only discovered The Bear on recommendation (from Shrink the Box) in the past few months.
The show follows Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White), an award-winning New York chef who returns home to Chicago to run his late brother’s failing sandwich shop.
Of course, it’s about much more than that. Writer/director Christopher Storer’s compelling story deals with a rundown kitchen, a diverse staff and Carmy’s unresolved grief. Raw, dramatic and funny, with the insane pressures of a professional kitchen, it’s all backed by a terrific soundtrack too.
The Bear has won critical acclaim across two series and has attracted a number of impressive guest stars.
A cultural phenomenon
Now, it’s been confirmed that the show is returning for a third season with FX president Nick Grad saying:
“The Bear, which wowed audiences in its first season only to achieve even greater heights in Season 2, has become a cultural phenomenon. We’re so proud to partner with Christopher Storer, Joanna Calo, Josh Senior, and the rest of the creative team, as well as the brilliant cast led by Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. What they and the crew have done is truly remarkable, and we and our partners at Hulu join fans in looking forward to the next chapter in the story of The Bear.”
Of course, due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, production on Season 3 will remain on hold for the foreseeable.
The Bear at the Emmys
In the meantime, the first season is up for 13 Emmy Awards. They include Outstanding Comedy Series and acting nominations for Jeremy Allen White, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Ayo Edebiri, Jon Bernthal and Oliver Platt. Plus, nominations for writing, directing, casting, production design, picture editing, sound editing and sound mixing too.
The Bear streams on Hulu (or internationally on Disney+.) If you haven’t sampled the show yet, you’re in for a treat!
