The casting reunites Ackles with Supernatural creator Eric Kripke…
We didn’t need to wait long to find out what Jensen Ackles would be up to after he finished work on 15 seasons of Supernatural! He will join the show’s original creator, Eric Kripke, over on his hit Amazon Prime series The Boys in season 3.
Ackles is set to play Soldier Boy, “the original superhero in the world of The Boys” (per THR) in that upcoming third season. “After fighting in World War II, he became the first super celebrity and a mainstay of American culture for decades.”
“When I was a child, I had a crazy, impossible dream — to provide Jensen Ackles with gainful employment,” said Kripke in a statement. ” I’m happy to say that dream has come true. Jensen is an amazing actor, an even better person, smells like warm chocolate chip cookies, and I consider him a brother. As Soldier Boy, the very first superhero, he’ll bring so much humour, pathos, and danger to the role. I can’t wait to be on set with him again, and bring a bit of Supernatural to The Boys.”
The popular and violent superhero series was renewed for a third season back in July, and is clearly already picking up speed.
The Boys season 2 will debut on Amazon Prime Video UK on 4th September.
