Richard Ayoade will return to host another batch of celebrity episodes of The Crystal Maze, it’s been confirmed. The new star-studded specials will start airing in June 2018, which isn’t very far off at all.
In a particularly fun piece of news, we’ve learned that one of the new Crystal Maze episodes will be a Derry Girls special, with Jamie-Lee O’Donnell, Louisa Harland, Nicola Coughlan, Dylan Llewellyn and Saoirse‑Monica Jackson all appearing. Jackson will take on the role of team captain, and there are bound to be calamities aplenty.
Another episode will see David Weir (Paralympian), Wayne Bridge (ex-football), Rachel Riley (Countdown genius) and Charlotte Crosby (Geordie Shore), and Judy Murray (tennis coach and mum to Andy and Jamie Murray). Murray will put her coaching skills to good use as the team captain.
Made in Chelsea’s Binky Felstead will appear in a team with Katie Price, Bez from the Happy Mondays, radio host Roman Kemp and former footballer Dennis Wise. Mr Wise will wear the captain’s armband on that team.
Dame Kelly Holmes will captain another team, with MC Big Narstie, Jorgie Porter (Hollyoaks), Alfie Deyes (YouTube personality) and Greg Rutherford (long jumper) taking orders from the Olympic legend.
Richard Madeley – of Richard & Judy fame – will also lead a team, which consists of Joe Wilkinson, Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts and TV presenters Radzi Chinyanganya and Kate Garraway.
The latest series of The Crystal Maze celebrity specials will debut on Channel 4 in June.
