Fantastic Beasts star Eddie Redmayne plays the infamous assassin in a new 10-part adaptation.
We’ve been keeping an eye on The Day of the Jackal since the news broke of a television adaption back in 2022. The show is billed as “bold, contemporary reimagining” of Frederick Forsyth’s seminal thriller and the subsequent 1973 movie.
With Eddie Redmayne as the Jackal, No Time To Die’s Lashana Lynch is the tenacious MI6 agent on his trail.
Now, the production has announced the series’ wider cast. Úrsula Corberó (Money Heist) is Nuria, someone at the heart of the Jackal’s personal life who is entirely unaware of his true identity.
Two Game of Thrones stars join her in the ensemble, Charles Dance and Richard Dormer. Plus, two from Andor – Jonjo O’Neill and Sule Rimi.
Additionally, there’s Chukwudi Iwuji (The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3), Lia Williams (The Crown), Khalid Abdalla (The Kite Runner) and Eleanor Matsuura (The Walking Dead).
The 10-part series comes from writer Ronan Bennett (Top Boy), with Brian Kirk (Game of Thrones, Luther) as lead director. The producers are Carnival Films for Sky and Peacock.
The Day of the Jackal arrives in 2024. It will air on Sky in the UK, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Austria, and Peacock in the US.
We’ll keep you posted.
