The Tom Moran series The Devil’s Hour will star Peter Capaldi and Jessica Raine
Thanks to Deadline, we have a lot more detail on The Devil’s Hour. Due to be shown on Amazon Prime, we now know Peter Capadli (The Thick of It, Doctor Who) will star alongside Jessica Raine (Call the Midwife, Patrick Melrose). Also in the case are: Meera Syal (Yesterday), Alex Ferns (Chernobyl), Phil Dunster (Ted Lasso), Barbara Marten (Sanctuary), Thomas Dominique (Blood Drive), Rhiannon Harper-Rafferty (The Donmar Warehouse’s All-Female Shakespeare Trilogy), John Alastair (Swimming with Men), Sandra Huggett (Coronation Street) and newcomer Benjamin Chivers.
The series is executive produced by Steven Moffat, Sue Vertue and Moran. This marks a reunion of sorts for Capaldi and Moffat, who of course worked together on Doctor Who.
We also have some detail on the story. We already knew the basics:
Lucy Chambers (Raine), is a woman who wakes up every night at exactly 3.33AM, in the middle of the so-called devil’s hour between 3AM and 4AM.
Lucy Chambers’ eight-year-old son is withdrawn and emotionless. Her mother speaks to empty chairs. Her house is haunted by the echoes of a life that isn’t her own. Now, when her name is inexplicably connected to a string of brutal murders in the area, the answers that have evaded her all these years will finally come into focus.
We have a lot of information on Capaldi’s character now:
…a reclusive nomad, driven by a murderous obsession. He becomes the prime target of a police manhunt led by compassionate detective Ravi Dhillon, played by Nikesh Patel, who recently featured in HBO Max/BBC Three comedy Starstruck.
The series is filming now — we’ll keep you posted on further news as we get it.
