The Interrogation of Tony Martin, a new drama about the English farmer who notoriously shot a teenager burglar dead, is set to air on Channel 4 at the end of the month…
The drama follows the “missing part” of Martin’s story when he, in 1999, shot 16-year-old Fred Barras when the teen was caught burgling the former’s home. Martin will played by Inside No 9‘s Steve Pemberton and co-star Daniel Mays and Stuart Graham.
The Interrogation of Tony Martin will offer up an account of the three days of police questioning following his arrest for shooting two burglars who broke into his farmhouse in 1999. At his trial Martin argued he had used reasonable force to defend himself and his property. His conviction provoked public outcry and the case became a national cause celebre.
The Watchman‘s David Nath will write and direct the one-off drama and we now know when it’ll be on our screens.
The Interrogation of Tony Martin airs on Sunday 18th November at 9pm.
