The Magician’s Nephew trailer has been released and it’s a statement of confidence

The first Greta Gerwig Narnia film has a trailer — with Stairway to Heaven as a soundtrack, it’s brimming with confidence

The Magician’s Nephew trailer — what does it tell us

While the very serious fans of the novels will no doubt pick every last detail out of the trailer (below), we found it delightful. While we could see some obvious changes from the book we hadn’t read for some years, there’s a definite magic in the air, and not just from the use of Led Zeppelin. You can read all about the film in the press release (and we’ve been following for some time).

Long before the wardrobe, there was a lion. With Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew, Academy Award–nominated filmmaker Greta Gerwig will sweep you away on a fantastical adventure and leave you forever changed. The epic film will travel back to the origins of Narnia, in the first-ever adaptation of CS Lewis’s 1955 novel, The Magician’s Nephew.

The film pairs newcomers David McKenna and Beatrice Campbell with an all-star cast that includes Emma Mackey, Daniel Craig, and Meryl Streep, and more. Enough chat — enjoy the trailer. The film will appear in IMAX in cinemas on February 12, 2027, and on Netflix on April 2, 2027. Sneak previews only in IMAX begin February 10, 2027.
