The second season is heading our way next month…
Jon Favreau’s pricey Star Wars show The Mandalorian will return to Disney+ UK from 30 October, and a first trailer has now arrived for season 2. You can check it out below…
The cast and crew had finished filming on The Mandalorian season 2 before the industry shut down, and post-production continued apace remotely.
“We were lucky enough to have finished photography before the lock down,” said Favreau at the virtual ATX Festival (via Dark Horizons). “Thanks to how technology-forward Lucasfilm and ILM are, we have been able to do all of our visual effects and editing and post-production remotely through systems that had been set up by those companies for us.”
Peyton Reed (Ant-Man) and Robert Rodriguez both previously confirmed that they’ve directed episodes of The Mandalorian in season 2. The director of Netflix’s hit movie Extraction, Sam Hargrave, has also revealed he was onboard as as a second unit director. The rest of season 2’s directors have been confirmed as Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Bryce Dallas Howard, Rick Famuyiwa and Carl Weathers.
A surprising guest cast has been building for The Mandalorian‘s second season. After Rosario Dawson joined the series, Terminator and Aliens star Michael Biehn has also been added to the cast as a bounty hunter. Biehn’s last notable appearance in a big project was in 2007 in Robert Rodriguez’s Grindhouse movie, Planet Terror, and wouldn’t you know it? Rodriguez is one of The Mandalorian‘s season 2 directors. Can we safely put two and two together and assume Biehn will be in one of Rodriguez’s episodes?
Starring Game of Thrones actor Pedro Pascal, The Mandalorian has been one of the most talked-about TV series since it first launched with the Disney+ streaming service back in November 2019, introducing an immediately-iconic character in the form of ‘The Child’, or ‘Baby Yoda’ as we continue to call him (he’s not Yoda).
More soon.
