Mark Gatiss has adapted the E.F. Benson tale with BBC Arts, here’s what we know about it so far

The BBC have announced The Room in the Tower, a ghost story from Mark Gatiss (Sherlock). It’s been adapted from the writings of E.F. Benson. With the release scheduled for this year’s holiday season, here’s the all info we have on it right now.

What’s it about?

The story takes place in the inter-war years, it follows a man that’s been haunted for fifteen years by a disturbing dream. His nightmares invite him to stay at the house of an acquaintance, where horrors lurk in the shadows. The Room in the Tower has been said to blend the dreaming and waking world as the invite eventually materialises for our protagonist…

Who’s in it?

The Room in the Tower is set to star Joanna Lumley (Absolutely Fabulous), Tobias Menzies (Outlander), Nancy Carroll (The Crown), Ben Mansfield (Endeavour) and Polly Walker (Bridgerton).

Who’s behind it?

It’ll be Gatiss’ eighth festive ghost story for the BBC, with previous stories including Woman of Stone, The Tractate Middoth and Lot No. 249. Gatiss will write and direct the project, with Isibéal Ballance (A Ghost Story for Christmas) producing.

When’s it out?

You guessed it… The Room in the Tower will come out this year, just in time for Christmas!
