Josh Boone may see his Stephen King adaptation appear ahead of The New Mutants at this rate…
A first look at CBS All-Access’ new small screen adaptation of Stephen King’s classic pandemic tome The Stand has arrived! A stack of images from the upcoming series – which hasn’t set a release date yet – preview an updated version of the story, which follows a group of survivors from a global pandemic (erk) who trek across country to start anew after experiencing some intense apocalyptic dreams.
The Stand stars Whoopi Goldberg as Mother Abagail and Alexander Skarsgard (True Blood) as the villainous Randall Flagg, with Jovan Adepo as Larry Underwood, Heather Graham as Rita Blakemoor, Owen Teague as Harold Lauder, and Odessa Young as Frannie Goldsmith, and has been created for TV by Josh Boone, the director of Marvel’s troubled X-Men movie, The New Mutants.
Dead to Me star James Marsden leads the cast as Stu Redman, the role once played by Gary Sinise in the 1994 miniseries, and Amber Heard plays Nadine Cross. Laura San Giacomo previously inhabited that role.
