The Walking Dead: Dead City – Season 2 start date confirmed

The long-awaited second season of The Walking Dead: Dead City comes to Sky Max and NOW this summer.

One of the many The Walking Dead spinoffs, Dead City follows old enemies Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) who travel into a post-apocalyptic Manhattan, long ago cut off from the mainland. It’s been a long wait for the story to continue, with the first six-part series airing in summer 2023.

In season two, in the growing war for control of New York City, Maggie and Negan find themselves trapped on opposite sides. As their paths intertwine, they come to see that the way out for both is more complicated and harrowing than they ever imagined.

The series also stars Gaius Charles, Zeljko Ivanek, Mahina Anne Marie Napoleon, Lisa Emery, Logan Kim, Dascha Polanco and Kim Coates.

Speaking to Collider, Jeffery Dean Morgan teased the new episodes saying:

“I feel like Negan’s in trouble. I think it’s going to be the most vulnerable that we get to see him. Maybe ever. I’ve seen him and he’s in deep shit and he has to figure a way out of it.”

Meanwhile, Lauren Cohan enthused about the new run:

“I had a really great season. No, I’m serious. You always hope that it’s going to be challenging and high stakes. Every single episode has some giant pinnacle, both emotionally and physically, and in our set pieces and the intersections. We all get to collide with each other honestly. It’s one of the most satisfying seasons of television I’ve ever been a part of. I got to the end of one episode and thought I don’t even need this to come out.

“I had such a great time. I had such a great time individually with each of these gentlemen, doing episodes and having worked together — that was just really satisfying and hard new territory. So that’s my big tease.”

Cohan also steps behind the camera, directing episode 6: ‘Bridge Partners Are Hard to Come by These Days’.

Sky have confirmed that all eight episodes of the second season drop on Thursday 10th July 2025.
