Many have tried, with mixed reception, to take on adapting the Resident Evil franchise and the trailer has released to the latest iteration – here’s what we know:
Originally released in 1994, Resident Evil is still having new releases to this day. Known for injecting fantastical horror into dingy, everyday locations with a distinct survival-action flavour – it’s not hard to see the appeal for trying to put the world of these games to screen. This new adaptation has an interesting approach, headed by Zach Cregger (Weapons). The trailer has recently been released, with a few more morsels of info being announced.
What’s it about?
This particular adaptation will follow the story away from the characters seen in the video games. Still taking place in Raccoon City, a courier finds himself at the heart of the outbreak at the heart of the earlier side of the franchise’s ongoing story. Without having previous knowledge of the character, audiences are in the unusual position of not knowing how the protagonist will handle the scenario and Resident Evil monsters they’re familiar with.
When’s it out?
The new take on the well-known horror will hit cinemas 18th September.
