A trailer has been released for BBC One’s upcoming one-off film about murdered schoolboy Damilola Taylor.
Told from the perspective of the Taylor family, Our Loved Boy explores their journey from Lagos to London, the emotional repercussions of Damilola’s death and the family’s quest for justice.
The cast includes Babou Ceesay (Eye In The Sky, Severance) as Damilola’s father, Richard Taylor OBE, alongside Wunmi Mosaku (In the Flesh) as Richard’s wife, Gloria.
Our Loved Boy will air at 8.30pm on Monday 7 November on BBC One.

The official synopsis reads: “The shocking death of ten year old Damilola Taylor in 2000 saw an innocent schoolboy lose his life on the streets of London. In front of the world’s media, his parents embarked on a gruelling path to find justice – but behind closed doors, how could their love survive such private grief? This feature-length drama reveals the personal story behind the headlines, immersing us in Damilola’s world, exploring his journey from Lagos to London, and his family’s quest for justice. Told primarily from the point of view of Damilola’s father, Richard Taylor OBE, this is a surprising, intimate and deeply moving story of fatherhood, family and hope.”
The 90-minute drama is written by award-winning screenwriter and playwright Levi David Addai and directed by Euros Lynn (Capital, Happy Valley).
