BBC One has ordered a one-off film about murdered schoolboy Damilola Taylor from the perspective of his father.
Our Loved Boy will be directed by Euros Lynn (Capital, Happy Valley).
Described as an “extremely moving film about fatherhood and family, justice and hope”, the 90-minute drama is written by award-winning screenwriter and playwright Levi David Addai in his debut for BBC One.
The death of 10-year old Damilola Taylor in 2000 saw an innocent child lose his life on the streets of Peckham, shocking the nation and generating headlines worldwide.
A decade since his case was finally brought to justice, Our Loved Boy tells the story of Damilola from the viewpoint of father Richard Taylor, going behind the headlines to explore the lasting impact of Damilola’s death on his close and loving family.
