Idris Elba’s DJ comedy series has been nixed by the streaming service after just one season….

Idris Elba’s Turn Up Charlie won’t be back for season 2, Netflix has revealed. In the show, a project set up at the streaming giant by Elba and Gary Reich, the Avengers: Infinity War actor starred as DJ Charlie, who becomes a male nanny to his famous best mate’s daughter when his career continues to falter.

The series was released to mediocre reviews on Netflix just over a month ago, and a quick decision about its potential has clearly been reached behind the scenes.

Turn Up Charlie will not return for a second season,” Netflix confirmed in a statement released this week. “We’re especially grateful to star and executive producer Idris Elba, who turned his passion for DJing into a witty, heart-warming comedy series. We’re also thankful to executive producers Gary Reich and Tristram Shapeero and co-executive producers Martin Joyce and Ana Garanito, along with the dedicated cast and crew, for bringing this story to life on Netflix. We look forward to continuing our relationship with Idris on future projects.”

Piper Perabo, J.J. Feild, Angela Griffin, Guz Khan, Jocelyn Jee Esein, Jade Anouka, Cameron King, and Dustin Demri-Burns also co-starred in the series with Elba.

If any more information about the future of Turn Up Charlie becomes available, we’ll let you know.
