The Uncanny Halloween is coming up and there’s more beyond to enjoy

Danny Robins returns with a brand-new series, featuring a month-long paranormal countdown and a Tower of London special

What do we know about this year’s Uncanny Halloween

The BBC press release is packed with information. From 1 October, fans can follow the Uncanny Halloween Countdown, featuring daily bite-sized paranormal tales sent in by listeners, released every morning throughout the month. The 90-second episodes will be available on BBC Sounds, YouTube, and social media, with weekly YouTube omnibus editions bringing together each week’s stories. The countdown reaches its chilling conclusion on 31 October with the Uncanny Halloween Special from the Tower of London, an hour-long special Uncanny episode available on BBC Sounds and YouTube from 6pm, before airing on BBC Radio 4 at 9pm.

What is the Tower of London special about

Recorded on location after dark, this episode sees Danny Robins take paranormal experts Dr Ciaran O’Keeffe and Evelyn Hollow inside one of Britain’s most spectacular and infamous landmarks to investigate its long history of reported hauntings by speaking to those who have lived and worked there. From the execution of Anne Boleyn and the torture of Guy Fawkes to the mystery of the Princes in the Tower, the team explores a site steeped in some of the country’s darkest history. Along the way, Danny speaks to one of the Tower’s curators, historian Alden Gregory, and current and former staff, including Yeoman Warders, who claim to have witnessed unexplained phenomena within its walls. As ever, the team seeks to discover whether these experiences point to genuine paranormal activity or can be explained by the psychological impact of living in such an extraordinary setting.

And there’s more to come

Starting on 10 November, a brand new ten-part series of Uncanny launches, with new episodes dropping every Tuesday. Alongside the audio podcast, for the first time ever, fans will also be able to enjoy a visualised version of the podcast on the new BBC Uncanny YouTube channel, following the success of the recent spin-off visualised series Uncanny Cold Cases.

This new series will see Danny investigate some of the most compelling cases yet to feature on Uncanny, from a haunted renovation project in Wales and alleged poltergeist activity at a hotel in the West Midlands, to a terrifying holiday home in rural Ireland, a scary student house haunting in a suburb of Newcastle and the true story behind Scotland’s only UFO encounter to become the subject of a criminal investigation. The series will also feature a special live episode recorded at the UncannyCon 2026 fan convention in Birmingham, and a Christmas Special with a celebrity guest expert, as well as case updates featuring new witness testimony and fresh listener theories.

Plenty to enjoy!
