Wednesday numbers and news of a spinoff for another Addams

The latest Wednesday numbers are out and there’s news of a spinoff for another family member

We’ve been tracking the audience since season 2 arrived, now the Wednesday numbers confirm the show has entered the all time top 10 for English language shows. And there’s news of a spinoff for uncle Fester (played by Fred Armisen).

Those Wednesday numbers in full

First off all, the numbers for last week take the show down to second place, with live sport taking the lead. Here’s the Netflix summary in their own words:

It was a record-breaking week for the Top 10 with a whole lot of whoa and a whole lot of woe (in the best way)! First, Canelo vs. Crawford broke records to become the most-viewed men’s championship boxing match this century. It also broke Allegiant Stadium’s attendance records with 70,482 visitors at the Las Vegas event. Then, Wednesday Season 2 made its official debut on the Most Popular English Shows list with 95.4 million views, joining the ranks of Wednesday Season 1, which currently holds the No. 1 spot.

If we look at the all time list, that places season 2 at #10, below Fool Me Once and The Night Agent season 1. We suspect the new few weeks (this list covers three months or 91 days after release) will comfortable take the total views past 100 million, placing the show at #8. A realistic 115 million will place the show around #5, above all Bridgerton seasons. Note Wednesday season 1 is comfortably clear in the top spot with 252 million views. This total looks likely to hold the show at #1 for some time to come.

What about the Fester spinoff?

Several sources are citing a comment actor Fred Armisen made on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. As per the quote:

“Yeah, yeah, we’re working on it. It’s fantastic… it’s amazing.”

So, no detail, and still in development. Bloomberg reported on this idea late 2023, so a slow-burner. If we hear more, we’ll let you know.
