First reported on The Knowledge, screenwriter Marnie Dickens (Thirteen, Ripper Street) has adapted the novel Wilderness by BE Jones.
What is Wilderness about?
The précis of the novel is:
A dream road trip turned dark nightmare
__________________________
Two weeks, 1,500 miles and three opportunities for her husband to save his own life
It isn’t about his survival — it’s about hers
Shattered by the discovery of her husband’s affair, Liv knows they need to leave the chaos of New York to try and save their marriage. Maybe the road trip they’d always planned, exploring America’s national parks — just the two of them – would help heal the wounds. But what Liv hasn’t told her husband is that she has set him three challenges on their trip — three opportunities to prove he’s really sorry and worthy of her forgiveness.
If he fails? Well, it’s dangerous out there. There are so many ways to die in the wilderness; accidents happen all the time.
And if it’s easy to die, then it’s also easy to kill.
What do we know about the new series?
We don’t know much beyond filming is due to start in April 2022, probably meaning a 2023 release on Prime. Speaking of the project, Dickens said:
“Wilderness is pure, unadulterated fun, where our heroine Liv says the things you wish you had the guts to, does the things you can only fantasise about, and lives by her own increasingly outrageous set of rules. I’m thrilled to bring the Prime Video audience along for her ride.”
We look forward to bringing you more information as the project moves to production.
