This Joka will include performances from Baron Vaughn, Megan Gailey, Punkie Johnson and Sean Patton…

Quibi is getting ready to launch on April 6. The new streaming platform is gambling on a new style of content delivery that focuses on phone-friendly TV series – each show’s episodes are 7-10 minutes long, meaning you can binge a whole series in around an hour. Is it a mad notion or will it be a game-changer? The people behind Quibi certainly can’t wait to find out!

Will Smith is the latest celebrity to reveal he’s bringing a series to Quibi. This Joka will be a 16-episode stand-up comedy show where Smith will host as well as executive produce behind the scenes via his Westbrook Studios entertainment company.

“Will’s love and respect for stand-up comedy runs deep, and with this series on Quibi, we hope to discover, learn from and uplift the next generation of diverse comedic talent,” said Terence Carter, co-president of Westbrook Studios, in a statement. “The goal of This Joka isn’t just to laugh but to find the universal human truths behind the laughter.”

Comedians Baron Vaughn, Megan Gailey, Punkie Johnson, Sean Patton, Rosebud Baker, Shane Torres, Clayton English, Christi Chiello, Vanessa Gonzalez, Martin Urbano, Sam Tallent, David Gborie, Jackie Fabulous, Chris Estrada, Rell Battle and Daphnique Springs are all set to perform on the forthcoming series, with George Wallace, Demi Adejuyigbe and Shawn Wasabi also making appearances.

No release date has been announced for This Joka, nor has Quibi confirmed when it will launch in the UK.
