Eve is CBBC’s new sci-fi mystery adventure about the world’s first fully sentient ‘artificial person’.
Eve (Poppy Lee Friar) seems human, but under the skin she’s a robot capable of amazing feats – if she can navigate her way through the perils of teenage life first.
Episode 1: ‘All About Eve’
Monday 5 January 2015, 5.30pm
Maverick scientist Mary Douglas (Jane Asher) is being thrown out of her own scientific institute, Calimov Systems, by Katherine Calvin (Rhona Croker) who’s staging a hostile takeover.
Mary orders Nick Clarke (Ben Cartwright) to destroy her top-secret Project Eternity prototype, Eve. But just as he’s about to disconnect Eve, Nick is stopped by his teenage son Will (Oliver Woollford).
Will reconnects Eve, bringing her to life and persuades his dad to take her back to their home where they’ll need to keep Eve’s existence a secret to protect her.
But hiding Eve proves harder than expected. First Will’s best friend Lily Watson (Eubha Akilade) works out the truth, then his teacher Mr Bevan (David Ireland) turns up looking for him and ends up locked in the cellar by Eve.
It will take all Eve, Will and Lily’s ingenuity to sort things out. Meanwhile, at Calimov Systems, Katherine is desperately trying to unlock the mystery of Project Eternity.
Episode 2: ‘A Real Girl’
Monday 12 January 2015, 5.30pm
Eve struggles to fit in with the outside world. Will (Oliver Woollford) and Lily (Eubha Akilade) try to help, but driven by her protocols, Eve has her own ideas.
Nick’s (Ben Cartwright) boss Katherine (Rhona Croker) is on the trail of Project Eternity, but does she realize Eve’s secret?
Lily’s brother Abe (Elijah Ayite) takes Eve shopping and she meets a wannabe girl gang, the GP2s and tries to join their gang by dressing and dancing like them, she even graffitis their tag and jacks Lily’s mum Maddy’s (Shonagh Price) car.
But what is Protocol Zero and who is Eve communicating with in private?
Episode 3: ‘Beautiful Game’
Monday 19 January 2015, 5.30pm
Will (Oliver Woollford) reluctantly has to explain the differences between boys and girls to a surprised Eve, and discovers that his robot friend has a hidden talent for goalkeeping. Will begs her to play for his failing team, but Eve wants to win, whatever the cost.
Lily (Eubha Akilade) uncovers a mysterious wifi signal, but Eve insists it’s not coming from her. Meanwhile the cleaning spiderbot Nick (Ben Cartwright) has brought home from his work at Calimov has become sentient and goes out of control.
Lily finds a connection between Eve and an attempt to hack into the systems of a local nuclear power station, controlled by Calimov.
Episode 4: ‘The Bubble Bursts’
Monday 26 January 2015, 5.30pm
Lily (Eubha Akilade) confronts Eve and Will with evidence that Eve hacked into a nuclear reactor, but Will doesn’t believe it. Meanwhile Lily’s brother Abe (Elijah Ayite) wants to get Eve to do his after-school job delivering leaflets.
But when Eve reads about the environmental damage caused by humans, her mysterious ‘Protocol Zero’ is activated and she starts to behave peculiarly. She cuts off the electricity to the house and then the local hospital, before giving Lily a massive electric shock.
Will and Lily realise that Eve’s creator Mary Douglas (Jane Asher) is sending her secret upgrades. But can Eve fight off ‘Protocol Zero’?
Episode 5: ‘Brain Freeze’
Monday 2 February 2015, 5.30pm
Eve is desperate to try ice cream for the first time after Abe (Elijah Ayite) gets ‘brain freeze’ from a Goliath sundae. Nick (Ben Cartwright) absolutely forbids Eve to eat or drink, so she builds herself an ice cream machine.
Nick wants to find out more about Project Eternity and discovers that the military are hunting for a missing computer chip. He realises that Mary (Jane Asher) put it inside Eve, so he bans her from leaving the house.
And when Nick finds out that the military chip will explode if exposed to very cold temperatures there’s a desperate rush to stop Eve trying the ice cream she craves.
Episode 6: ‘Things That Go Beep in the Night’
Monday 9 February 2015, 5.30pm
Will (Oliver Woollford) wants to take Eve to a Halloween party, but Nick (Ben Cartwright) forbids it.
And when Nick discovers that his boss Katherine (Rhona Croker) has found a way to track down the location of the military chip inside Eve a desperate diversion is needed.
Meanwhile at the party Eve is chatting to good-looking Zac (Billy Ashworth). But is there more to Zac than first appearances suggest? Will decides to shut Eve down and try to throw Zac off the scent. But it appears that Eve has formed an emotional attachment.
Episode 7: ‘The X & Y Factor’
Monday 16 February 2015, 5.30pm
Katherine (Rhona Croker) suspects that Nick (Ben Cartwright) knows more about Project Eternity than he’s letting on and dispatches Zac (Billy Ashworth) to flirt with Eve and gather information about Nick’s secret work.
Zac invites Eve out on a date to a karaoke café, but Eve’s singing voice sounds like a computer modem.
When Will (Oliver Woollford) discovers that Zac works for Katherine he and Lily (Eubha Akilade) must race to the café before Eve’s secret is out.
Episode 8: ‘The Truth About Lies’
Monday 23 February 2015, 5.30pm
Struggling to work out how to keep love-struck Eve away from Katherine’s spy Zac, Will and Lily send her to hang out with Abe while they think up a plan. Abe is up to no good making dodgy fizzy drinks so Eve quickly learns a thing or two about lying. Back at Will’s house, Lily has an idea to protect Eve by getting Zac fired. Will calls Katherine pretending to be a German doctor looking for Zac and information about Calimov’s secrets.
Zac arrives at Will’s house determined to see Eve and stay until Eve returns. To keep them apart Lily tells Eve to stay with Abe so as not to ruin a surprise that she and Will are planning over at Will’s house. Abe sees through it, Eve comes home and when Zac confesses that he has feelings for Eve, Eve is over the moon.
Will and Lily do their very best to sabotage Zac and Eve’s conversation, until Eve has a brain wave. To get her friends out of the way, Eve tries out her new deceptive skills and tells Will that his dad is in hospital following a terrible car crash. Will and Lily race off to the hospital in a panic. Finally alone and undisturbed, Eve and Zac have a great afternoon.
Episode 9: ‘Trashed’
Monday 2 March 2015, 5.30pm
First Abe’s tablet goes haywire – and then, apparently, so does Eve, who seems to have forgotten that she is a robot and that she ever knew a guy called Zac. But when Eve sees Lily’s parents, Maddy and Simon together, she begins to remember fragmentary flashes of Zac.
Determined to fill in the blanks, Eve asks Maddy to drive her to Calimov, where Zac worked, so she can understand who he was and why he is no longer in her life.
Will and Lily work out that Eve used Abe’s clean-up software to delete her own memory?
Episode 10: ‘Mum’s the Word’
Monday 9 March 2015, 5.30pm
It’s Lily’s birthday, and Eve is intrigued by the wish Lily makes when she blows out her candles. Eve wants to try it out for herself and ‘wishes’ to meet her mother.
This technically comes true when Mary appears in the form of a hologram before her, revealing to Eve that she’s nearby, hiding in the woods. Eve tells Will, but he dismisses her ‘wish’ as a daydream.
While Lily and Will discuss Eve’s ‘dream’, Abe is eavesdropping in a bedroom cupboard. Abe understands that information about Mary’s whereabouts pays well at Calimov, and thinks he’ll simultaneously be helpful in keeping Mary away from Eve, so anonymously calls Katherine with a tip-off that Mary is in the woods.
Episode 11: ‘IT Girl’
Monday 16 March 2015, 5.30pm
Lily returns from school upset because she was disqualified from the science fair competition as Will, her partner, didn’t show up. Will barely apologizes – Lily could have gone with someone else. But Lily doesn’t have other friends.
Lily has a brainwave and asks Eve, who has become a daytime TV addict, to come to school with her. At Calimov, Nick is banned from the research room where Katherine is trying to piece together burnt documents and photos recovered from Mary’s cabin in the woods.
Nick manages to get a sneak peek and realises that very soon the pieced-together jigsaw is going to reveal Eve as a robot. Nick needs to come up with a plan quickly.
Episode 12: ‘Control, Alter, Delete’
Monday 23 March 2015, 5.30pm
Eve faces her most dangerous moments yet as she finds herself cornered with little way out.
Her friends desperately want to save her, but has Eve become too human to save herself?
