While we eagerly await the show’s return at 9pm on Sunday 4 September on BBC One, here are 10 spoiler-free lines of dialogue from Season 2 Episode 1. Can you guess who says which line?
‘Your situation is not good, Ross.’
‘Ross Poldark, I am committing you for trial at the Bodmin Assizes… and may God have mercy on your soul, for I most assuredly would not.’
‘If he hangs he’ll have only himself to blame.’
‘Who’s this fine lady and what has she done with my wife?’
‘She looks like a dangerous woman to me…’
‘Quite pasty-faced! A consequence of too long indoors fingering coin…’
‘Do they seriously imagine I would seek to beg favours from that upstart poodle?!’
‘Ross is considered such a threat that men will spend a fortune to get him hanged.’
‘They cannot hang me – I’ve too much to do!’
