Comedian Matt Forde’s TV choices

Posted Filed under

As heard on TalkSport, 5Live and BBC 6Music’s The Jon Richardson Show, Matt Forde will be performing his solo show – Dishonourable Member – at the Edinburgh Fringe this August. Matt knows it’s weird to get excited about politics in the same way he gets excited about football. But he can’t do anything about it.

We caught up with Matt to find out what he likes to watch to relax between performances…

Favourite TV show to cheer you up:

Only Fools And Horses. It’s the best sitcom ever written, I used to tape record the episodes and listen to them in bed.”

Favourite TV show to watch before going to sleep:

South Park. Which is a problem because it’s so addictive so I’ll watch about 7 episodes and go to bed at half four in the morning then wake up swearing.”

TV show that most reminds you of your childhood:

Saved By The Bell. I wanted to be like Zack, but was probably more like Screech.”

TV show that most reminds you of being a teenager:

I’m Alan Partridge. Coogan is my comedy idol and I became a huge fan, so much so I once was an Alan Partridge tribute act for a while.”

Favourite “guilty pleasure” TV show:

The Jeremy Kyle Show. Contrary to many who think it’s drivel, I think this show is a public service – some people just need telling!”

TV show that you find most addictive:

“Sky Sports News at any time of the day. They make great drama out of so little; hype TV at its best.”

Favourite TV show to watch hungover:

Match Of The Day. Perfect with the remains of a can of lager and a cold curry, the best drama on TV.”

Axed TV show that you most wish would return:

The A Team. My mum banned me from watching it as a kid as it made me hyperactive and I would hit my sister then tip the settee over.”
