The BBC continues to trawl formats now that it doesn’t have the rights to The Voice, and it’s decided to hand some cash to Paddy McGuinness. In exchange, McGuinness will be bringing his talents to a new talent show about tribute acts.
Described in the press announcement as “much-loved”, McGuinness will present Even Better Than The Real Thing, a 60-minute show that will bring together tribute acts for the likes of Bruno Mars, George Michael and Little Mix. Not only has a first show been ordered, but the BBC has already stumped up for a Christmas special as well.
In the words of McGuinness, “This show is a belter! A talent show that’s only about the talent – with the best tribute acts from around the world singing their hearts out. You’ll never have to fork out for expensive concert tickets again. You’ve got front row seats!”
The show films this summer. A transmission date has yet to be announced.
