The popstar and actor has reportedly joined the Addams Family show.
As well as being a bona fide musical phenomenon, Stefani Germanotta – better known as her pop persona Lady Gaga – has a burgeoning film career.
After early roles for Robert Rodriguez, Gaga has gone on to star in high profile movies such as A Star is Born, House of Gucci and the recent Joker: Folie à Deux. On television, she’s also appeared in two series of Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story.
Now, in news we picked up via Entertainment Weekly, it seems she is also to take on a role in the second series of Netflix’s Wednesday. However, her role remains under wraps so we don’t know if she’s playing a character within the Addams universe, or a twisted version of herself. Could she be cast as Cousin It under a carpet of hair? (This seems unlikely).
Gaga has been linked to the show before. During the first season, when Wednesday’s dance to ‘Goo Goo Muck’ by The Cramps went viral, she joined in the fun doing her own version to a sped up version of her song ‘Bloody Mary’.
Wednesday Season 2
If the second season of Wednesday seems to be taking forever, that’s because the first run launched back in 2022. After what seemed like a dither around recommission, the season 2 got the nod in January 2023. However, it only entered production this May – no doubt thanks to the Hollywood strikes – shifting its production base from Romania to Ireland. Given the timescales involved, the new season is likely to land in late 2025.
Season 2 will continue the adventures of Wednesday (Jenna Ortega), Enid (Emma Myers) and their contemporaries at the Nevermore Academy. The show is adding guest stars including Steve Buscemi, Thandiwe Newton and Billie Piper. Plus, Joanna Lumley playing Grandmama.
We’ll keep you posted on Wednesday.
